Northwest Ohio Dental Clinic at the Henry County Health Department
On October 20, 2004, the Henry County Health Department, with support from the Northwest Ohio Dental Health Task Force and funding from the Ohio Department of Health, opened the Northwest Ohio Dental Clinic.
The mission of Northwest Ohio Dental Clinic is to provide quality comprehensive, emergency, preventive, diagnostic, and restorative dental services for people who have considerable difficulty accessing private dental care. The dental clinic is a regional project targeting Defiance, Fulton, Henry, Paulding, Putnam, and Williams counties. However, any resident of Ohio who is on Medicaid (Ohio Medicaid, Buckeye Community Health, Unison, Care Source, and Paramount Advantage), is uninsured, or has private insurance is accepted.
The comprehensive dental care provided includes preventive exams, cleanings, x-rays, fluoride treatments, sealants, extractions, fillings/restorations, root canals, dentures, partials, crowns, and acute pain relief. Clinic and lab services for uninsured residents are billed on a sliding fee scale based on family size and income. The dental clinic serves all ages, from children through the elderly. Services are provided Monday through Friday from 8:00 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. by appointment.
The dental clinic currently employs one full-time and two part-time dentists, four dental hygienists, and four dental assistants and support staff. The Dental Clinic operates under the direction of the Health Commissioner and the seven-member Henry County Board of Health.
