1.3 Policies and Procedures That Need to Be in Place When a Clinic Opens
Not all P&Ps must be in place when a clinic opens; some can be developed
over time. But, at minimum, P&Ps for the following should be in place from
the outset:
Organizational structure
- Scope of services
- Hiring, including credentialing
and privileging of professional staff
- Financial management
- Clinic insurance
- Appointment and walk-ins
- Informed consent (for more
information about informed consent, see module 5, Informed
Consent)
- Infection control, including
exposure control (required by federal regulation)
- Hazard communications (required
by federal regulation)
- Clinic safety
- Evaluation
