5.3 Accessing Funding
Local sources are a good place to begin a search for funding opportunities. The Web sites of the rural health association, health department, or other local organizations may provide leads. These organizations track and publicize funding opportunities via newsletters, Web sites, or e-mail lists. Local United Way chapters and faith-based organizations are other possible funding sources.
TipDon't limit your search to those who say they fund “dental programs.” Doing this limits opportunities. Funders need to be made aware of the fact that oral health is an integral part of overall health and that programs that improve oral health should be eligible for health funding.
