The cover page instantly creates an impression about the clinic and the business plan, so it requires thought and attention. The cover page should include the clinic name, a short description of what the clinic does, the words “Business Plan,” the date the plan was developed, and the name and contact information of a contact person.

The table of contents provides an overview of the business plan and on which page to find the information.

Also known as a statement of purpose, the executive summary is a one- to two-page summary of the business plan. It is not an introduction to the plan. Because the business plan may be too long or costly to reproduce in some instances, the executive summary may be used as a substitute in certain situations (e.g., when making preliminary contact with potential funders).
