Module 3: Restorative Treatment
3.4 Restoring Anterior Primary Teeth

Stainless Steel Crowns Stainless Steel Crowns Restoration of anterior primary teeth is challenging, but there are many options available—from strip crowns using clear celluloid crown forms to pre-veneered stainless steel crowns. The decision of which anterior restoration option to use is based on the amount of tooth structure remaining, the pulp status, and the expected life span of the tooth. For aesthetic reasons, stainless steel crowns are usually not an option. With any anterior restorative choice, technique sensitivity issues (primarily related to moisture contamination of acid-etched surfaces) and the need to administer profound local anesthesia, which young children find very painful, are important considerations.
