Knox County Health Department Dental Clinic
The
Knox County Health Department is a non-profit government agency and the sole
health district serving Knox County, Ohio residents. Dental care has been a
part of the public health services provided at the agency since 1985. In 2001
the Health Department (HD) moved into a new facility in which the two-chair
dental clinic is located. The agency then secured funding for three years from
the Osteopathic Heritage Foundation (OHF) in 2004-2006 that enabled dental
clinic to expand staff and hours of operation to better target the community’s
Medicaid and uninsured populations. Today, services include preventive oral
health care, basic restorations and extractions.
There are no patient restrictions for care; however, the majority of clients are children and adults living in Knox County which encompasses a rather sizable number of Amish families from within the county, as well as surrounding counties such as Holmes, Coshocton and Licking. The dental clinic accepts Medicaid and all forms of dental insurance. The under/uninsured are offered a sliding fee schedule with a minimum payment of $20 per visit. No patient is denied care if they are unable to pay for services.
The Knox County Health Department Dental Clinic currently employs a full-time dentist, a full-time dental assistant, one full-time clerical specialist and two part-time dental hygienists who together work 3 days per week.
The clinic operates at full capacity from 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., Monday through Friday. The Knox County Health Department is located at 11660 Upper Gilchrist Road, Mount Vernon, Ohio 43050. For more information, call (740) 392-2200, or email info@knoxhealth.com.
