Zanesville-Muskingum County Dental Clinic Expands
Construction
began on the dental clinic expansion project based at the Zanesville-Muskingum
County Health Department on August 4, 2008. The project included utilization
of a new open area, five new dental chairs to go along with three existing
chairs, new equipment, a new sterilization area and additional staff. Services
began in the new clinic on October 20.
The dental clinic’s operation is a collaborative effort supported by the Muskingum Valley Health Centers (MVHC), a federally qualified health center in Zanesville (Muskingum County) and McConnelsville (Morgan County) and the Zanesville-Muskingum County Health Department.
Dental clinic business operations are based at the MVHC. Expansion has allowed for more clients to receive services, including those from Muskingum as well as Morgan County. Before, the wait time for dental appointments was two or three months. Adding more staff has significantly reduced that time.
Dr. Dean Stimpson heads the dental team. Dr. Stimpson has 42 years of dental experience. Also on the team, is a staff dentist, clinic coordinator, three dental assistants, one dental hygienist and a receptionist.
The dental clinic is a safety net dental care provider accepting patients who are Medicaid eligible, underinsured or uninsured. Payment is determined using a sliding fee schedule based upon income. The office is open Monday through Friday and has begun accepting appointments. Call (740) 454-9741 for more information.
